I am definitely with you! I literally just had this conversation on LinkedIn the other day. I think as times change, we are given new tools — better tools — and should embrace them fully. I mean if something works, why change it? And, improving doesn’t necessarily mean change — it just means that we take something that has proven to work and making it better.

I think this is very apparent when looking at our own childhoods in comparison to the young minds of today. While so many in society have arguably gotten worse, so many more children are proving to be more mature, have more potential and will possibly be more successful than our previous generations.

I believe that it should be monitored, obviously, and that just because our children are being “good,” “quiet” and all of the things that come with being occupied, we shouldn’t stop being parents. So many parents have — then, they blame it on “electronics,” “technology” and just about everything but themselves. Even though society becoming more demanding, we still need to guide our children, direct them and teach them along the way. They still need balance — so, we take them outside and teach them. They still need discipline — so, they should still earn what they receive.

One reason I write about technology is that love for what it can do. As a mother to a MENSA-level child, technologies such as this have always caught my eye. My daughter will go weeks to months without her tablet, based on her behavior (outside of that technology), but I can definitely see first hand how it has helped her grow into the person she is — even as an 8-year-old — already.

Thanks for your feedback and response! I LOVE seeing other’s opinions or ideas (especially on something I have written). It really means a lot. So, I thank you! :) I welcome you back any time and look forward to responding to your contributions on Medium in the future!
