I would also assume this to be true. However, it’s not exactly necessary. If I’m in Punxsutawney, for example, and it’s Groundhog’s Day and -8 outside… one could assume that I am there for Groundhog’s Day celebrations and that I would need hot chocolate, warm clothes and possibly transportation to Gobbler’s Knob. If simple diameters have been stored, such as age, sex and location, I may be targeted for products, meant for women and vice versa.

These tools are being integrated into existing platforms, which will probably already contain this information, as collected from elsewhere. If FB adopts it, they will use FB submitted information. Because they specifically mention Salesforce, I would assume that the companies using Salesforce already have key details stored into their cloud that would sync with that of AccuWeatherIQ. They aren’t providing the details, as to the exact information being collected and/or stored. But, these are all things to think about.

As a marketer, I would be interested in this tool, based on the weather and location, alone. If it’s Summer in Brazil, we know that it’s Winter in the States. However, we don’t know exactly how hot it gets… AccuWeatherIQ would be able to give us a forecast that would allow us to best predict which dates would be best to market to our audiences.

Let’s say I own a swim suit company. I am going to be marketing my company on the hottest days and the days leading up to it — especially if there is a heatwave coming. But, then again, what if the next week or so, they are calling for rain? I will cut back on spending by putting a pause on my campaign (or at least slowing it down) at that time — which also allows me to increase my marketing spend during the hottest periods.

In PA and OH, it’s always snowing or raining on Halloween. But if I own a company in Florida, I might not know that — since kids can wear whatever costume they want without a winter coat tucked up under their gear.
